Last year, for my daughter's 9th birthday I put together a simple crawfish party. Being here in the South, nothing says warm weather and good times like crawfish, corn and potatoes. Messy to eat but oh so good, these little mini lobsters ( as we say) are a batch of deliciousness. I am planning a crawfish boil and movie night this year for my kids and cannot wait to get my hands on these badboys.

Here are a few tips for you if you are hosting a crawfish boil.

Since the meat is only in the tail, be sure when buying you buy a lot.

When I purchase, I try to get at least a pound or more per person.

Add in 2-3 potatoes (red) per person and 1 piece of corn per person.

Have plenty of napkins or wet wipes because it is sure to get messy.

Serve on newspaper or shipping paper for easy cleanup.

Be sure you know how to peel them so you can help guests who are new to the crawfish game. I found this little graphic online from Southern Living that shows ya how to peel em.

Back in November, my son, Anderson, was cast in a short film called Bound. Written by actor Brandon Hirsch who has been on tv shows such as NCIS and in the movie Drumline, it touches on very sensitive and adult subject matter. I was blown away by my son's performance and his talent. I never even knew he had it in him!



I am so proud of him and I tell him that and that I love him everyday. Although he will not be able to make it due to the content of the film, if you are in the Nashville area on April 19th and 22nd, stop in at the Nashville Film Festival and give him a watch!



He even made the poster for the movie!

It is no secret that pinterest is the place to be. I find myself checking it out everyday for inspiration. It is just so amazing how much creative juices flow in one place. I can remember when we would have to visit website after website after website and bookmark or favorite what we liked, saving to our computers...but thank goodness NO more! We can now find so much in one place.

With Easter right around the corner, and being that I still have school age kids who loves kidish things, I have been looking for egg ideas. I love love love these!

If you are like me, the children always get tons of candy at Easter. The day and week after, we still have so much left. Sometimes I end up throwing it away because they become a ball of melted chocolatey mess.  This year I decided to try something different...why not milkshakes. You can always freeze the candy for milkshakes later or why not serve these easy milkshakes to family and friends on Easter!
