Happy Easter!

8:12 PM

I am of course, always last minute.

I did not decide on a cake until last night and that meant my friends scrambled to the store to pick me up chocolate bunnies and cake mix. I ended up venturing into the front yard pulling up various flowers while looking like a maniac in my skull cap. I am sure the neighbor's kids were traumatized by my appearance. But those flowers coupled with the ones I picked up from the store were perfect for a simple Easter table.

Nothing fancy here, just a cool table that cost me all of $15. We had a great dinner my mom made and the kids enjoyed their egg hunt. Each prepared an Easter lesson for us for the REAL reason for the day.

Sweet 16 Simple Dinner

9:33 PM

It is not everyday that your oldest child turns 16. Even though her birthday party is not until later this month, I had to do something. So a simple Asian dinner it was...her favorite.

Her party will be fused with much better Asian dishes....I just had to get something on the table though to celebrate.

Here are a few detail shots.

Thanksgiving Recap

9:35 PM

Thanksgiving was amazing. My mama threw down and the bread, cake and homemade cranberry sauce I made was a hit.  I kept the table simple by pulling some magnolia leaves off of our tree and just placing it on the table. Here is a pictorial recap. Oh yeah.

My mom's friend made a four layer caramel cake. If you are in the South or from the South, you know that these are HARD to come by. Not many people make them since the caramel is soooo tricky. Caramel cake is completely homemade. There is no box cake mix used and no caramel wrapped candies used in the icing. It is one of the most perfect cakes EVER. This is one cake that I am determined to learn how to make next year. It is also one of my top three favorite cakes ever.

My mom spent two days smoking and grilling. She made pulled pork, ribs, chicken breasts, and leg quarters. I was in heaven. And nothing, NOTHING beats her southern cornbread dressing. It is creamy and if golden could be a taste, it would taste golden. This recipe will be going up before Christmas. I hope she shares with me!

Thanksgiving Tablescape

8:21 PM

Last month, I was able to work with Town and Gown magazine here in my hometown alongside, Thyme to create this tablescape. I am far from an interior decorator or event planner but I love how I was able to bring what I saw in my mind to life on the table. It was a great experience to be able to work with the store and choose what I needed. They were SO accomodating and helpful!

If you are in the Starkville area and looking for high quality and unique items for hosting and entertaining, please stop by and tell them Divian sent you. They are an amazing group of ladies with such fantastically beautiful pieces!

I went with a rustic silver look and I loved it.

Pinterest Love: Easter Tablescape Inspiration

6:13 PM

So I have been scowering pinterest for Easter inspiration. With it right around the corner, I have been busy coming up with a few recipes to share. While looking, I started to venture away from recipe inspiration and towards table inspiration. My mother grew up with her mother always decorating the house for holidays. Not just a centerpiece, my grandmother went all out. She FULLY decorated every room to reflect the holiday. While my mom does not decorate the entire house, she loves setting her kitchen and dining room tables with a holiday inspired centerpiece. Pinterest seemed the most logical place to share some ideas with her.

I found some really cool looking stuff. While the cabinet in my kitchen sits stuffed full of Easter candy, plastic green grass and jellybeans, these tablescapes put what I could possibly muster together to shame. I think I may need to step up my game. lol

I absolutely love the simplistic and slightly country charm of this table by Jenny Steffens

These two tablescapes incorporate the use of white (which is my all time favorite color of choice for dinnerware). It looks so fresh, clean and striking. Find them and more inspiration at Everything Fabulous.

The carrots in this tabescape are so cute! I love the idea of instead of the stems, there is a gorgeous array of fresh flowers. The personalized simple eggs make a great name card alternative. I found this at Love Grows Wild.

I guess, I will go back for more inspiration...I seriously cannot get enough of these gorgeous tables!
