What I Am Digging: 5 Things This Week I Love

11:03 AM

Being a photographer who spends the majority of her time at home while the kids are at school, I spend a lot of time looking over things online. From reading and catching up on the news, to watching youtube, surfing pinterest and foodgawker to no end, I am always seeing things that I love.

Each week from now on, I will be sharing some of the things that I see and absolutely fall in love with. Recipes, gadgets, gift ideas, articles, anything that I find online that I like, I will share with you guys.

So for this week, here is what I have been looking at and drooling over, check em out, peeps!

  1. This super easy homemade wine recipe from PawPaw. I have a few batches fermenting as I type.
  2. Seriously, Maple Cinnamon homemade marshmallows? Just in time for the upcoming holidays, this recipe by Joy Food Sunshine looks amazing.
  3. Tell Me Tuesday's Rosemary, Grapefruit and Gin Cocktail looks so refreshing. Has me daydreaming about summer in our newly sprung fall.
  4. There is something about an all white table that I am loving lately...really digging this tablescape by Home Oh My.
  5. Why yes, please....Carnitas Tacos over at The Tortilla Channel. Drools.
I have made a bucket list for myself of sorts.  It is to actually make or do something that I pin on pinterest or something I run across online that I like. These are small time things and simple things but seriously, you have to start chipping away at the over 4,000 things you have pinned.

Here's to making and doing!

Simple Candy Cake

5:57 PM

I am far from a baker. I keep cake mix and brownie mix in the pantry but I dread when my kids ask me to bake something for them. I don't know why, really. I just like to keep baking as simple as possible.

Every year I make my kids a birthday cake. Sometimes that means taking the cheater way and buying a cake already baked and just embellishing on it. Saves me time and I get to cut the chase and hop right to the best part, the decorating!

So for my daughter's birthday last Friday, I did just that. Picked up two 2 layer cakes from Walmart, added some sour candy and lollipops and guess what, it saved me a ton of time and it was a HUGE hit.

There is no recipe to this, it is simply a design idea. Loads of candy, wrapped around a confetti sprinkle side, tied with a sour Airhead Extreme strips.

It was so good and I think it looked pretty cool too!

Pinterest Love....Christmas Dinner Love

1:09 PM

I absolutely love pinterest. I have the Chrome button installed in my browser so I can pin no matter what site I am on. It is just so darn easy to do and I love that it saves all my favorites in one organized spot!

I did not do Thanksgiving dinner. I was out of town photographing for a commercial client and did not make it back until the late evening before Thanksgiving. I am so thankful that my mom stepped in and threw down in the kitchen! She put  her foot, arm, leg and head in that meal! YUM!

Since she helped me out and did Thanksgiving, Christmas dinner is up to me. I have been pinning like a mad-woman thinking of ideas and thought I would share my finds with you. I want to go a different route than we usually go so I have pinned some things I have never ever ever had that I really want to try: *cough* beets *cough*

Pinterest Round-Up: Delish Served Pinterest-Style

2:00 PM

So, I admit...I am a pinterest addict. I don't pin everyday, but by golly, I do find the time to check out pinterest daily. I am all over the place when it comes to browsing the vast world wide web.  I look at everything from children's party ideas, food and recipes, clothing and style trends...to now as of late, back to school lunch boxes.

I mean seriously, there is so much to pin and so little time! So while I sit here, typing, kids are in the living room each doing their own thing before we get dinner ready, I am going to share some of the things I have pinned in the last week.

Here we go!
(photos link to the source!)

OMGosh dang delicious! I love deviled eggs. Here in the South you can't go to any party, potluck or event without someone bringing in a tupperwear container full of these badboys. Usually very traditional, when I saw these Bacon Jalapeno Deviled Eggs(clickity-click, it's a link!) on pinterest from Real House Moms I was like "Whoah...yes, please!". Bacon. Jalapeno. Eggs. Nuff said.

This cake reminds me so much of my wedding cakes many, many, eons ago.  I had a rustic outdoor backyard wedding with a bbq reception. The cake was like this...filled with a rich nice cheesecake cream and orange marmalade. It was finished with fresh berries and flowers. What I love about the cakes over at Miss Ingredient is that they are rustic, simple, elegant and looks just so refreshing! I have never been a fan of fondant, I love the simple cakes with old world feels to them. I had to pin this cake when I could literally taste it by looking at it!

Angie, over at Little Inspiration knows the way to my chocolate covered heart. Her layered and Nutella Popsicles are the bomb.com. Oh wow. I really have no words other than, nom nom nom. Check her out for these refreshing summer treats!

So yeah, just a peek into the goodness you can find on pinterest and if you are a member, follow me at
